I'm Not Dead!

Jil Sander S/S 2011
If any of you are still actually following this blog, I am still alive and well and want to provide you with the best info on the world of fashion!  NY fashion week was great and I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer there.  The atmosphere of Lincoln Center was fabulous and it was so cool to see so many stylish people in an equally stylish and classic American setting.  Change was also in the air when it came to silhouettes.  I really like the direction fashion is going in now.  The loose, easiness of the clothes is something I am really drawn to.  Lately I have been obsessed with buying my shirts one or two sizes too big and I am just in awe of all the loose, slouchy pants worn down the runway.  Although there have been many great interpretations of 90s and 70s looks this season (Marc Jacobs anyone?) there have also been looks that seem new and different such as Proenza Schouler (a perennial favorite of mine if you haven't noticed.)

On a more specific note, Raf Simons has given me a reason to love Jil Sander again (I would post this whole collection if I could).  Honestly, I was not taken by his last F/W collection.  I thought it was cold and as devoid of emotion as it was of color.  This season, however, I am obsessed!  The colors that came of of Milan for spring were so bright and happy.  An inspiring thing to look at if you are experiencing the rainy weather of NYC today!

And you've left me shimmering

Top: Simply Vera Vera Wang, Leggings: Old Navy, Booties: BCBG Paris, Necklace: Gift

Decided to take it easy with my outfit this Easter after the skirt I was planning on wearing to church was wayy tooo short. This shirt is unbelievably soft. Every time I go to Kohl's I always want to get some of the Simply Vera merchandise but I usually don't. All of the pieces I like are never in my size when I go and what I do find fits me kind of awkwardly. But I haven't given up hope since they now offer petites. I love all of the abstract prints; they are so nice for spring.

The Coveted

Three of my favorite pieces from Skirt were the Cupcake Bomber Jacket by Diane Von Furstenberg, and the Pheasant Feather and Ruffled Chiffon Mini Skirts by Haute Hippie. The leather on the jacket was so soft and light, and I love the collar. It's the perfect mix of tough and girlie. The leather is a good weight for the spring weather. The jacket is also available in beige, but I prefer the black.

I couldn't stop staring at these skirts. I love minis and feathers and if I had money I would spend it on the entire Haute Hippie line along with Haute Hippie Nude, which produces the world's greatest, softest, most covetable oversized cardigans made of silk, cotton, and cashmere. These along with HH's cute, flirty dresses, oxfords with attached necklaces, and sequined minis are all available at Skirt.

And I would like to call it beauty

Long sleeve top and tank: American Eagle Outfitters, Skirt: Juicy Couture, Shoes: L.A.M.B., Scarf: Collection Eighteen, Sunglasses: Cynthia Rowley

Today was my first day of Senior Inquiry at the great Bryn Mawr Boutique, Skirt . I'm so tired now that I am going to take a nap. I'll try to post about my experience later this week. I am in love with my new scarf though. It has taken me a while to find one that I really like because it seems like everyone and their mom had a flowered or buffalo plaid one. I got this one at Marshalls last Friday. What do you think?

Spring Fever

My dad said yesterday, "Isn't it amazing that it can reach 70 degrees in winter?" Now it is Spring and a beautiful day to get free water ice at Rita's! This was such an amazing week, weather wise (besides Monday) and today is no exception since it's going up to 72 degrees in my area! If you happen to be stuck inside today, here's some cool modern art for you to enjoy. I am generally not a big fan of modern art but I LOVE pop-art and I loved this painting that I saw at the Met. I'm so sorry that I forgot who it's by. The colors are so vibrant, happy, and perfect for Spring.
